Bemidji schools move to e-learning after ‘credible threat’
The Bemidji Police Department announced the move to remote classes Wednesday while not sharing much information about the nature of the threat.
BEMIDJI, Minn. — The Bemidji School District moved to e-learning Wednesday after what officials said was a “credible threat.”
In a Facebook post Tuesday night, the Bemidji Police Department posted the information along with a screenshot of Superintendent Jeremy Olson’s message to students and families of Independent School District (ISD) #31.
Here is the superintendent’s full message.
“At approximately 9:45 p.m. today, I was informed by law enforcement of a credible threat made against an ISD#31 School. As a result of this credible threat, law enforcement has advised the district not to hold classes for tomorrow. We will transition to an e-learning day for all district schools. The Bemidji Police Department and Bemidji Area Schools will collaborate together to provide information by tomorrow afternoon. Bemidji Area Schools takes the safety of our students and staff very seriously and is taking this step to keep our students and staff safe.”
There was no additional information posted as of Wednesday morning about which school received the threat. The Facebook post said families and students have received emails and voicemails about the e-learning day.

Police are investigating after three men were shot early on Saturday morning.
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating after three men were shot in the Ventura Village neighborhood early Saturday morning.
According to Minneapolis police, officers were called to the area around East 21st Street and South 15th Avenue around 5 a.m. Saturday.
Officers found three men had been shot. One of the men died and the two others were taken to the hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries.
Officials said the shooting happened at a small homeless encampment.
Police have not announced any arrests as of Saturday morning.
