One of the many benefits of being able to collect a Social Security retirement check in the United States is knowing when we will get our monthly payments. However, some Americans must wait somewhat longer than others each month to collect their payments. This implies that some Americans get their checks within the first week, while others have to wait longer.
And this will happen in April, when we may expect to get up to four distinct payments, depending on which Social Security group we belong to. The first group of retirees will get their checks on April 3rd, while the others will have to wait until later weeks.
Who will receive Social Security later in April?
In April 2025, Social Security payments will be made on four distinct days: the 3rd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd. If we are qualified, we may use any of these days as a payment day. Simply understanding the criteria for each payment day is sufficient.
The first of these payments will be made on April 3, 2025, to retirees who received their benefits prior to May 1997. If you applied for this check before that date, you will be able to get your money on that day; otherwise, you will have to wait.
Thus, the remaining payment dates in April 2025 will be as follows, along with their requirements:
- April 9th. Payment for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- April 16th. Payment for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- April 23rd. Payment for pensioners after May 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Remember that if you do not have Direct Deposit enabled, you will not be able to receive payments on these specified days; instead, you will have to wait until the money is in your bank account. But if you have Direct Deposit enabled and are a member of one of these Social Security organizations, you will not have to wait another day to get your benefit money.
More Social Security payments in April
In addition to these payments, there will be an additional Social Security payment in April 2025. This payment will be Supplemental Security Income, popularly known as SSI. This cheque may be up to $967 per month and is only available to the most needy individuals.
If this payment is approved, we will be able to get it on April 1st, and it is completely consistent with the Social Security benefit payment. So, if you have a retirement or disability check, you may be qualified to get this payment as well.
