A 77-year-old is saved after a car collides with McCarrons Lake

Roseville, Minnesota — A neighbor and a patrol sergeant rescued a 77-year-old man after he crashed into a Roseville lake on Monday afternoon.

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 2:30 p.m. on the south side of McCarrons Lake.

A Roseville man had an apparent medical issue while driving, causing him to crash through a fence and then down a 20-foot embankment into the water, according to officials.

When a Ramsey County Patrol Sergeant arrived, they ran into the water and discovered the vehicle submerged. They and a neighbor assisted the 77-year-old in reaching shore before transporting him to the hospital.

Another neighbor, Joe Linn, witnessed the incident and told KARE 11 that he believed the man had suffered a medical emergency. He thought it was very brave of a neighbor to jump into the water to help.

“One of the neighbors definitely saved his life,” he told me. “A man named Adam went into the water, and the water was up to his chest, but he kept [the 77-year-old’s] head above water so he could breathe. There’s no way he’d be alive without Adam.”

According to the sheriff’s office, a dive team and tow truck worked together to pull the vehicle out of the water Monday afternoon.

KARE 11 is working to obtain an update on the man’s condition.
