Several buildings in Renaissance Fair are destroyed by fire

Shakopee, Minnesota — Multiple fire departments are responding to the Minnesota Renaissance Fair because several buildings on the grounds have been destroyed.

SKY 11 captured the scene from above, revealing that the buildings had burned down.

According to Shakopee Fire Department Deputy Chief Joe Simon, five connected wood structures with 12 storefronts were burned down.

The Shakopee Fire Department said crews were dispatched around 6 p.m. Thursday, and the fire was difficult to control due to a lack of water supply in the area. Approximately 12 fire departments responded to the festival grounds.

Officials said the fire had been mostly extinguished by 8 p.m. There were no injuries reported.

The state fire marshal will take over the investigation, and no cause has been determined, Simon said.
