Minneapolis — Adrian Peterson, a former Vikings great, faces yet another legal hurdle after being arrested early Friday morning for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
According to Hennepin County records, Peterson, 40, was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and booked into jail at 5:15 a.m. He was released just over two hours later, around 7:30 a.m. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a trooper stopped Peterson’s Audi Q5 at 3:20 a.m. on southbound Highway 77 near 66th Street in Richfield after noticing it was going 83 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Peterson is free on a $4,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 9.

This arrest is just the latest in a string of legal issues for the former MVP. Peterson was charged with felony child abuse in 2014 for using a switch to discipline his children, and he has recently appeared in court on a number of issues, including allegations of failing to pay child support and refusing to turn over assets to repay a $12 million debt.
Peterson was drafted by the Vikings out of Oklahoma in 2007 and spent ten seasons in Minnesota. After being released due to salary cap issues, he spent several years in the NFL, playing for New Orleans, Arizona, Washington, Detroit, Tennessee, and Seattle.
