A South Carolina woman is accused of killing her ex-husband and stuffing him in the closet.
Joyanna Black Vansant is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. According to local media, Frederick Vansant, Jr., 60, was identified as the victim by the Horry County Coroner.
When cops arrived at her ex-husband’s house to conduct a welfare check, the suspect allegedly opened the blood-stained door.

Officers from the Horry County Police Department conducted a protective sweep of the home and discovered the ex-husband’s body stuffed in a closet with apparent gunshot wounds, according to a press release.
Joyanna Vansant was taken into custody and transported to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. According to police, the suspect no longer lived in the home. A motive has yet to be disclosed. The probable cause arrest affidavit was not readily available.
According to records from the South Carolina Department of Social Services, the Vansants divorced in 2021.
Local ABC affiliate WPDE interviewed a neighbor who knew the victim well.
“We know he loved to golf, and we know he had a group of friends that he would go golfing with,” Lauren Wehrung told the TV station. “We actually had a nickname for him, we would nickname him ‘Friendrick’ like friend, because he was legitimately so friendly and he was the kind of guy that if you needed something, he would definitely come through.”
According to the Sun News, a judge on Sunday denied the defendant’s bond request. If convicted, she will face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
