Dan Scavino, one of President Trump’s longest-serving inner circle advisers, is the senior advisor in the West Wing office closest to the action, the Oval Office, during his second term.
Influence with the president of the United States has often been a factor in the physical closeness of an adviser’s office to the Oval, but it may be less important in Mr. Trump’s second term, when he maintains in touch via phone with the power players whose thoughts he appreciates the most.
However, the West Wing seating chart, which still contains several vacant desks, continues to pique the interest of players both within and outside the White House, according to sources familiar with the plan.
Scavino works in the office adjacent to the president’s private dining room, a position formerly held by Mr. Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner during his first term and Mike Donilon during Joe Biden’s administration.
Scavino, the voice of Trump’s MAGA movement with a social media following that hangs on every short video and remark he uploads, is now the deputy chief of staff.
James Blair, a deputy chief of staff who served as political director for President Trump’s 2024 campaign, sits next to Scavino in the office that Steve Bannon occupied during his seven months as chief strategist during the first Trump administration.
Susie Wiles occupies the spacious corner suite that has historically been reserved for the chief of staff.
Beau Harrison, the deputy chief of staff for operations, is also present in the power hallway. He’s in the cubicle-style office where Biden aide Bruce Reed sits.
Margo Martin, a special assistant to the president and communications advisor, has the desk with the shortest distance between it and Trump’s Oval Office.
She is in the outer Oval with Chamberlain Harris, a receptionist; Natalie Harp, a former One America News Network anchor who served as a bodyguard during the campaign; and Walt Nauta, a military aide and presidential valet accused of obstructing the government’s investigation into Mr. Trump’s handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. The accusations were dropped by federal courts just weeks into Mr. Trump’s second administration.
Vice President JD Vance and national security advisor Mike Waltz are located in the West Wing’s western corridor, as is customary for their offices. Vance’s chief of staff, Jacob Reses, is in the VP’s suite.
Waltz’s suite includes Alex Wong, Deputy National Security Advisor, and Micah Ketchel, Senior Advisor.
Brian McCormack, the National Security Council chief of staff, and spokesman Brian Hughes are on the ground level, close to the Situation Room, but the majority of the NSC personnel are in the building next door, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
Tom Homan, the border czar, is down near the Navy Mess. On the basement level are special envoy Steve Witkoff, Paula White-Cain from the religious office, and Will Scharf, the staff secretary.
Stephen Miller, Mr. Trump’s deputy chief of staff, is in a suite upstairs, along with policy strategist May Davis Mailman. The second level includes David Warrington and the White House counsel offices, as well as Alina Habba, the president’s counselor.
Down the corridor on the second floor are Kevin Hassett, director of the National Economic Council; Nick Luna, deputy chief of staff; Vince Haley, head of the domestic policy council; and Ross Worthington, chief speechwriter.
Other key players on the main floor near the Oval include Taylor Budowich, deputy chief of staff for communications and cabinet affairs, in the most spacious press office; communications director Steven Cheung; press secretary Karoline Leavitt; and Harrison Fields, principal deputy press secretary, in the lower press area.
Some of the most powerful people in the president’s entourage do not have West Wing offices, such Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and government efficiency assistant Elon Musk, who has an office in the Executive Office Building.
Some of his advisors are not in government, including family members, personal senior counsel Boris Epshteyn, and former communications assistant Jason Miller.
