A popular laundry detergent sold only on Amazon is being voluntarily recalled in the United States due to potential contamination with a dangerous pathogen. The product in issue is Reckitt’s Woolite Delicates Detergent, and the recall covers about 16,200 50-fluid-ounce bottles.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a notification encouraging customers to cease using the product immediately if it matches one of the concerned lot numbers: S24364, S24365, or S24366. While the bacterium is unlikely to be harmful to healthy people, it may cause catastrophic illnesses in those with compromised immune systems.
What bacteria was found and who is at risk?
The detergent might be contaminated with Pseudomonas oleovorans, a bacterium that can cause health problems in immunocompromised people. The CPSC underlined that the danger is low for persons with no underlying health concerns, but it nonetheless recommends halting usage out of caution.
Customers are entitled for a full refund. To claim it, customers must write their name and the term “Recalled” on the back of the bottle in permanent marker, snap a clear picture of the UPC and lot number, and send it to ConsumerCare_USA@reckitt.com.

What should consumers do now?
Anyone who bought Woolite Delicates Detergent from Amazon should verify the lot number on the bottle. If it matches one of the recalled codes, the product should be disposed of properly in accordance with the return instructions. Reckitt and the CPSC are collaborating to guarantee that impacted consumers get fast reimbursements.
This recall emphasizes the continued need of raising consumer knowledge about product safety, particularly when it comes to things used on a daily basis in the home.
