Assistant DA charged for allegedly threatening judges, 'they simply need to bleed'

Hudson, Wisconsin — An assistant district attorney in western Wisconsin faces felony charges for allegedly telling a coworker that several judges “just need to bleed.”

Bela “Alec” Ballo, 33, is charged with three counts of threatening a judge in St. Croix County. According to the criminal complaint, he was so angry on the phone that his coworker became concerned. .

Ballo allegedly claimed that the judges were making adverse rulings against him and dismissing his cases at trial just to embarrass him. The coworker told investigators that Ballo repeatedly yelled “needed to bleed” at the judges, eventually screaming it.

Ballo is also charged with disorderly conduct for driving aggressively on the interstate while transporting young children, according to the criminal complaint.

Ballo received a $15,000 signature bond in court last week. He will return to court for a status conference next week.
