Minneapolis — This year, Mill City and Mercy Vineyard Church expanded their annual Easter egg hunt by offering real eggs to adults for the first time in its 15-year history.
The initiative aimed to help families with high grocery bills while maintaining holiday traditions.
Community Impact Pastor Adaobi Nduka said attendees were surprised by the inclusion of fresh eggs, with some comparing them to “golden” prizes.
“People are like, seriously, real eggs?” she asked. “We want to be a blessing for our families.”
The churches collaborated with nonprofits Every Meal and ABC Books, deploying over 70 volunteers to distribute eggs to hundreds of attendees at the free event.
Organizers described the initiative as a response to rising food prices, particularly for staples such as eggs.
The hunt kept its traditional family-friendly activities while introducing an adult-focused component.
