Duluth, Minnesota — To this seafaring vessel, the entire world is her oyster.
And the Federal Nagara shipping vessel from the Marshall Islands proved it when it passed through Duluth on Monday morning, becoming the first “saltie” to arrive in the Twin Ports this season.
“The first ocean-going vessel of the season reinforces the importance of global trade to Duluth-Superior,” said Deb Deluca, Executive Director of the Duluth Seaway Port Authority. “Indeed, that global trade is very much part of our life’s blood.”
Duluth NBC affiliate KB JR was present when the ship arrived and stayed for the annual celebration, during which Deluca presented gifts to the captain and crew to greet them.
After emptying her cargo, she left the Twin Ports and began her new journey north to Thunder Bay.
