TGI Fridays Overhauls 85% of Its Menu in a Bold Comeback Attempt

TGI Fridays, the well-known bar and restaurant chain, is going through a big transformation. After filing for bankruptcy in 2024, the brand is now working hard to make a strong return. One major part of this comeback is a massive menu revamp, which includes changes to 85% of its food offerings.

The company hopes that by improving the quality of its food and offering bold new flavours, it can win back old customers and attract new ones. The move comes at a time when many restaurant chains are also updating their menus to meet changing tastes.

New Leadership, New Direction

Ray Blanchette, who was TGI Fridays’ CEO for five years until 2023, is back to lead the company once again. His mission this time? To bring TGI Fridays back to life.

Talking to CNN, Blanchette said, “We approached it from the standpoint of, ‘let’s make sure everything we have on our menu is something we’re proud to serve.’ If it’s not, then either we delete it or we improve it.”

This no-compromise attitude shows the brand’s serious focus on better quality and customer satisfaction.

Introducing the All-New “TGI Sauce”

As part of the menu overhaul, the company has introduced what it calls a “craveable, all-purpose TGI Sauce.” This new signature sauce is designed to enhance the taste of several dishes, including fries, burgers, and their popular hand-breaded chicken.

TGI Fridays hopes this sauce will become a favourite among fans and serve as a unique flavour that sets them apart from competitors.

What’s New on the Menu?

Though the full menu update hasn’t been released yet, the official TGI Fridays website already shows off some of the new dishes. Here are a few highlights:

  • Loaded Tots – A cheesy, crispy starter that’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
  • Big Queso Energy Burger – Packed with flavour and dripping with cheese.
  • Boneless Wing Basket – A new appetizer perfect for sharing.
  • Texas BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger – A smoky, saucy main with bacon and BBQ sauce.
  • Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich – A classic favourite with a fresh TGI twist.

These new items are meant to reflect modern tastes while sticking to the comfort food style the brand is known for.

Will This Menu Make a Difference?

It’s still too early to say whether this menu shake-up will help TGI Fridays recover financially, but the company is clearly hoping the bold changes will reignite interest in the brand. With dozens of restaurant closures already behind it, the pressure is on.

The menu revamp is part of the plan to complete the bankruptcy process by summer 2025, and bring the brand back to profitability.

Other Chains Also Making Menu Moves

TGI Fridays isn’t alone in shaking things up. Many fast food giants are also updating their menus:

Taco Bell made its Crispy Chicken Nuggets a permanent item due to high demand.
McDonald’s CEO has hinted at big upcoming changes, keeping fans curious.
Chipotle introduced a brand-new set of menu items in March.
Burger King staff have shared secret fan favourites that may soon get more attention.

This shows a clear trend in the food industry—brands are listening to customer feedback and trying to stay relevant with fresh ideas.

TGI Fridays is betting big on its new menu to fuel a major comeback. With 85% of dishes updated, a signature TGI Sauce, and exciting new items like Loaded Tots and BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers, the chain is focusing on better taste and quality. As other big names in food are also making changes, the competition is heating up. Time will tell if these efforts will help TGI Fridays bounce back, but for now, it’s clear the brand is ready to fight for a fresh future.
