If you’ve owned an Apple device with Siri in the last 10 years, you may be eligible to receive up to $100 in a legal settlement. This comes after a major lawsuit claimed that Apple’s voice assistant Siri listened to private conversations and shared the information with businesses.
Whether you received a legal notice or not, you can still submit your claim—but you must act before the deadline in July 2025.
What Is the Siri Privacy Lawsuit About?
The case started in 2021, when a user named Fumiko Lopez filed a lawsuit against Apple. Lopez said Siri accidentally recorded private conversations and that the data was used by third-party companies like restaurants and clothing brands to target him with ads.
The lawsuit claims this happened without user consent, raising serious privacy concerns.
Apple has denied all accusations, saying that it didn’t share user data or do anything wrong. But the company has still agreed to a settlement in 2025, which allows users to receive compensation if they qualify.
Who Can Claim Money?
You are eligible if:
- You owned a Siri-enabled Apple device (like an iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Apple Watch, or HomePod)
- You used the device between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024
- You experienced Siri activating on its own during a private or confidential conversation
Even if Siri turned on by accident just once during a private moment, you may be able to claim.
How Much Money Can You Get?
Each person can receive up to $20 per device, with a maximum payout of $100 per person (for up to five devices).
For example:
- Own 1 device? You could get $20
- Own 3 devices? You could get $60

However, if many people apply, the payout per person may be less, depending on how much money is available in the total settlement fund.
