Dad who crushed his daughter, 19, to death by running her over twice while she wailed in anguish, dies in prison

Lauren Malt, 19, was attempting to protect her boyfriend from a crowbar attack when father Nigel Malt, 44, slammed his Mercedes into her.

The teen’s father reversed over her outside the Norfolk home she shared with her mother and younger siblings.

He then came to a stop before driving forward over Lauren, who screamed in agony.

Following his conviction for murder, Malt was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 18 years in 2022.

The killer father, whose minimum prison sentence was later increased to 22 years, was discovered dead on April 29 at HMP Gartree in Leicestershire.

His cause of death has not yet been revealed.

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has launched an investigation, as is customary when an inmate dies in jail.

Malt murdered Lauren outside the family home in January 2022.

He violated the bail conditions imposed after being arrested for assaulting his wife by driving to the shop where she worked.

Malt also made 19 unsuccessful phone calls to her home on January 23 of this year.

Lauren is believed to have picked up the final call, which lasted one minute and six seconds, and Malt arrived shortly thereafter.

The court was told that he rowed with his daughter and her boyfriend, whom he attempted to attack with a crowbar.

“Consumed by anger,” he then got into the black Mercedes and began driving “at speed” into Lauren.

A horrified witness yelled, “You’ve killed her, you’ve f***ing killed her,” but Malt advised them not to call the cops and instead placed Lauren in the passenger seat.

He then drove his ailing daughter to the shop where his estranged wife worked after informing her that their daughter had died.

After being arrested at the hospital, Malt was heard saying, “My baby.” All of this is the result of my mistake.

The teen was rushed to the hospital, where medics discovered she had broken her back, breastbone, and ribs, as well as traumatic injuries to her chest and abdomen.

During his sentencing, Judge Anthony Bate stated that Malt used his car as a “lethal weapon in an alcohol-fueled rage on a residential street.”

He went further: “She (Lauren) should have been safe in her father’s company.”
