Texas – A Texas man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after fatally stabbing 30-year-old A. Gopta earlier this week. The investigation began when responding officers and EMS personnel discovered the victim with severe neck injuries; despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.
According to Texas authorities, the defendant, 31-year-old D. KandeI, was sitting next to the victim when he suddenly stabbed him in the neck without reason. Following the attack, the defendant calmly exited the bus with the other passengers and fled on foot. Witnesses gave descriptions that led to the defendant’s arrest nearby at 7:12 p.m.
During questioning, the 31-year-old man confessed to the stabbing, claiming that the victim resembled his uncle. He is currently being held at the county jail on a first-degree murder charge, with his first court appearance scheduled for June 12.
The incident has sparked concerns about public safety and mental health services. According to court records, the defendant has a lengthy arrest history, including serious offenses, and prosecutors have previously declined to prosecute him on several occasions.
