GRAND OPENING Beloved restaurant company and Chili's rival scheduled to open new site in days; first visitors will enjoy complimentary meals

The newest location is preparing for a grand opening in a few days and will feature giveaways, free meals, and a charitable community donation.

It is good news for Alabama residents, but rival Chilis may not be so pleased.

Outback Steakhouse will officially open its doors in Phoenix City on May 20.

At 10:30 a.m., the venue will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome guests.

This marks the first time the beloved steak chain has arrived in the area.

Outback Steakhouse joins other restaurants on the block, including Chipotle, Popeyes, and Waffle House.

For steak enthusiasts, this popular and hearty chain is a welcome addition to the chicken-like strip.

To celebrate the opening, the first guests through the doors will receive a variety of free goodies while supplies last.

These freebies include appetizer cards, Joey Meal vouchers for future children’s meals, and Outback-branded merchandise such as hats, cups, sunglasses, koozies, and more.

As one of Chili’s main competitors in the casual dining scene, the steakhouse is well-known for its bold flavors, signature steaks, and crowd-pleasing dishes.

Outback remains a popular destination for casual family dining and relaxed meals out.

The new restaurant, which measures just over 4,600 square feet, has a spacious dining room and bar area inspired by Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

The restaurant seats up to 187 people.

As a nod to the local community, the interior design incorporates art and details from some of Phoenix City’s most popular attractions.

Diners will see images of the Lakewood Park waterfall and scenes from the famous Chattahoochee River.

The opening is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs in the area.

In keeping with that community spirit, the restaurant will donate $5,000 of its grand opening proceeds to Freedom Farm Crossroad.

Freedom Farm Crossroad helps children, young adults, and families in difficult situations, which is especially important for many Americans today.

This new opening is another step in Outback’s steady progress toward regional growth.

Just last month, its Pell City location opened, providing an alternative to the Whataburger in the same retail park.

Phoenix City’s newest dining establishment is expected to draw a crowd when it opens on May 20.

This comes after the chain announced plans to reduce its extensive menu in February.

Another popular restaurant chain recently confirmed that 30 new locations will open in 2025.
