DIY DREAM Popular furniture chain 'better than Walmart & Pottery Barn' will launch 8 more stores - see full list of locations and dates

The first of eight new locations will open soon, with two ready to welcome customers in just a few weeks.

Swedish furniture giant IKEA, which is also known for its food products, plans to open eight new stores in the US.

The majority will open their doors this year, while others will have to wait until 2026 to purchase DIY and home-decor items.

The exciting news comes after the chain already opened five locations in the United States by 2025.

A spokesperson for IKEA told USA Today that six new stores will open in the United States this year.

This is expected to be followed by two more in the new year, but more could be on the way.

However, not all locations will be identical.

IKEA offers various store formats to meet the needs of different customers.

The chain operates Plan and Order sites, pick-up locations, and traditional large-format stores.

IKEA claims that its Plan and Order points provide shoppers with a “personalized service” in which they can “meet one-on-one with one of our planning specialists to plan and order IKEA goods” that are then delivered to them or a nearby pick-up location.

Meanwhile, its pick-up locations provide “a blend of online and offline shopping” by allowing customers to pick up items for free the day after placing an order.

At the end of last year, it reported 51 traditional locations, 39 pick-up sites, and 10 Plan and Order points in the United States.

Three of the planned openings will now be Plan and Order points with pick-up, while the remaining will be traditional stores.

In just a few weeks, shoppers in Cherry Hill, Pennsylvania, and Beaverton, Oregon, will have access to two new Plan and Order pick-up locations, which are set to open in June.

The third location is set to open in Hunt Valley, Maryland in July.

The final summer opening will be in San Marcos, Texas, in July, with a traditional large-format store.

The remaining two large format stores opening this year will also be in Texas.

One will travel to McAllen in October, while the other will arrive in Dallas in December, just in time for Christmas shopping.

The final two traditional stores, scheduled to open in 2026, will be in Rockwall, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona.

However, as the IKEA official stated, there could be more on the way, so if your location is not on this list, do not give up hope.

Customers have long praised the Swedish chain for its delicious food court meatballs, as well as its high quality and low prices in comparison to competitors.

“My wife and I have about 80-90% of our apartment furniture from ikea, so while we are definitely biased, we also have a lot of experience putting stuff together,” a satisfied consumer stated on Reddit.

“Its far better than the Target/Walmart/cheap-Amazon stuff that is comparable in price.”

“I actually find IKEA’s quality to be just as a good as if not better than Crate and Barrel/CB2/West Elm/Pottery Barn,” another consumer stated.

“Generally speaking, I find things from IKEA to be better quality or at least the same, as what I pick up from Wayfair and Target for the same price,” added a third person.

“They usually look nicer and are easier to assemble too.”

It is not just IKEA that is opening new stores across the country.

A popular discount chain has announced plans to open 20 new locations across several states.

A supermarket chain plans to open two more locations by May 23.
