Shoppers across the U.S. can now claim part of a $10 million class action settlement involving Wheat Thins crackers—even without proof of purchase. Mondelez International, the maker of Wheat Thins and other big-name snacks like Oreos, Ritz, and Sour Patch Kids, has agreed to resolve a lawsuit over allegedly misleading packaging that claimed the crackers were made with “100% whole grain.”
Here’s everything you need to know about the Wheat Thins lawsuit, who’s eligible, how much you can get, and how to file a claim before the deadline.
What Is the Wheat Thins Lawsuit About?
The lawsuit claimed that Wheat Thins packaging misled shoppers by advertising the crackers as containing “100% whole grain,” even though some products included refined grains. This led to confusion and, ultimately, legal action.
Although Mondelez International denied any wrongdoing, the company has agreed to a $10 million settlement to resolve the case and move forward.
Who Is Eligible for a Payout?
If you purchased Wheat Thins between October 13, 2018, and May 9, 2025, you could be eligible for a cash payout. You must also be at least 18 years old.
The settlement includes many popular Wheat Thins flavors such as:
- Original Wheat Thins
- Reduced Fat Wheat Thins
- Sundried Tomato & Basil
- Big Wheat Thins
- Ranch Wheat Thins
- Hint of Salt
- Cracked Pepper & Olive Oil
- Spicy Sweet Chili
- And other Wheat Thins that claimed to be “100% whole grain”
If you bought any of these products in that time frame, you can file a claim to receive cash, even if you don’t have a receipt.
How Much Can You Get?
There are two types of payments depending on whether you have proof of purchase:
1. With a receipt:
- Shoppers who submit valid receipts showing multiple purchases can get between $8 and $20 per household, depending on how many qualifying items they bought.
2. Without a receipt:
- Shoppers who don’t have receipts can still get $4.50 per household just by submitting a claim.
You do not need to return any products or have any packaging to qualify.
How to File a Claim
Filing a claim is simple. You can do it either online or by mail.
To file online, visit the official Wheat Thins settlement website and complete the form. For mail submissions, download and print the claim form, fill it out, and mail it to the address listed on the website.
Important Deadline:
All claims must be submitted online or postmarked by July 7, 2025. If your claim is late, you won’t be eligible for a payment.
What Happens Next?
Once all claims are reviewed, a final approval hearing will be held on December 11, 2025. If the court approves the settlement, payments will be issued afterward. Those who want to opt out of the settlement or file an objection also have until July 7, 2025 to do so.
Mondelez and Other Food Labeling Lawsuits
Wheat Thins isn’t the only snack brand under scrutiny. Mondelez International has also faced lawsuits over other products:
- Clif Bar, another Mondelez-owned brand, paid a $12 million settlement in 2024 for misleading labeling.
- Wahlburgers, a restaurant chain, settled a $2 million lawsuit for allegedly false claims about its pickles.
These cases are part of a growing trend where consumers are pushing back against misleading food labels, especially when it comes to “healthy” or “natural” claims.
If you’ve bought Wheat Thins in the last few years—even just once—you may be eligible for a small cash payment from this lawsuit. With no receipt required for a basic claim, it’s worth taking a few minutes to file before the July deadline. These types of settlements are designed to give everyday shoppers a fair chance to be compensated for misleading marketing.
