An Alabama man is in jail after allegedly hitting a woman twice with his vehicle and then returning to the scene to pick up the victim’s body.

Logan Michael Rogers, 28, is accused of murder in the death of 38-year-old Autumn Paige Strickland, who was reported missing early Sunday and allegedly discovered dead at Rogers’ home when cops executed a search warrant Tuesday.

The investigation began on Sunday evening, when Strickland was reported missing. She was believed to have left the Stricklin Hotel on Court Street in Florence shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday. At the time, police thought she was “endangered” and “may be living with a condition that may impair her judgment.”

Detectives received numerous tips from the community. Rogers was discovered after further investigation, including the collection of video evidence.

Police arrested Rogers early Tuesday and allegedly discovered Strickland’s body inside his home. Investigators have not revealed how Rogers and Strickland knew each other.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime and local media outlets, police now believe Rogers killed Strickland on Saturday with his Kia Soul. According to investigators, he struck her with the car before turning around and hitting her again. Strickland allegedly drove away, but returned 30 minutes later to collect her body and transport it to his home in the 2200 block of North Wood Avenue in Florence, where cops later discovered her.

The motive for the crime has yet to be revealed.

Rogers remains in the Lauderdale County Jail without bond. He did not have an attorney listed.

“First and foremost, we want to thank our community for the outpouring of support and the valuable tips that have helped move this case forward,” the cops stated in a press release. “We also want to commend our detectives, who have worked tirelessly around the clock to pursue every lead. Their efforts led to the arrest of a suspect.
