2 officers, suspect killed in Barron County shooting
Officials said the officers, from Chetek and Cameron, were killed after pulling a driver over during a traffic stop.
RICE LAKE, Wis — Two Wisconsin police officers from Chetek and nearby Cameron and a suspect were killed during a traffic stop on Saturday.
The city of Chetek posted on social media that around 3:38 p.m. on March 8, an officer conducted a traffic stop where guns were fired. Both the Chetek officer and an officer from Cameron, who was helping with the stop, died at the scene.
As of Sunday morning, little information has been released about the person the officers were stopping. Officials said that person was taken to a hospital where they later died. Nothing about that person’s age or the circumstances around the traffic stop is known on Sunday morning.
Multiple law enforcement organizations are investigating the shooting, including the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
Police Departments from the surrounding areas posted their condolences for the officers killed over the weekend.
The Village of East Troy‘s police department, located near Milwaukee, posted their thoughts and prayers.
Police in Hudson, Wisconsin, also sent their thoughts and prayers to the Village of Cameron Police Department, the City of Chetek Police Department, the Barron County community, and the families of two officers, saying “Rest easy, we have the watch from here.”

1 killed, 2 others injured in Minneapolis shooting
Police are investigating after three men were shot early on Saturday morning.
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating after three men were shot in the Ventura Village neighborhood early Saturday morning.
According to Minneapolis police, officers were called to the area around East 21st Street and South 15th Avenue around 5 a.m. Saturday.
Officers found three men had been shot. One of the men died and the two others were taken to the hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries.
Officials said the shooting happened at a small homeless encampment.
Police have not announced any arrests as of Saturday morning.
