In the life of an American, the day their Social Security payment starts to come in is without a doubt a very important one. After all, when this benefit is paid out, it is like a before and after in every American home, because the people who get it stop working and start their golden years.
Every month, these checks come on different days. On April 9, a certain group of Americans will be able to enjoy this monthly benefit. People who get retirement checks can always count on having the money when they need it, which is an advantage over people who get wages.
How do I get today’s Social Security payment?
First, we need to figure out two things so that we can get our Social Security check today. This means that if we meet two necessary conditions, the Administration will send us the check. However, the payments may or may not arrive today if we have chosen the faster collection method.

To be in the group that gets the money today, you must meet these two conditions:
- Having applied for retirement benefits in the month of May 1997 or any subsequent month.
- Having a birthday between the 1st and 10th day of any month of the year.
We also need to make sure that Direct Deposit is turned on, as that is the fastest way to get these benefits. The check will always arrive at the time the Administration sends it if we can use this method of collection. The money will show up a few days after this method is turned on if it is not.
Remaining Social Security payments in April
Before the end of April, the Social Security Administration will send more payments to people in the United States who are eligible for a benefit. Taking into account that there are four payments, we can say that half of the April payments have not yet arrived.
In April, the next days you will be able to pay are:
- April 16th. Social Security retirement payments for group 3 beneficiaries.
- April 23rd. Retirement checks for Social Security group 4.
It is important to remember that for these two groups, we need to have the payment from after May 1997. Nevertheless, each payday has its own set of rules. For group 3, you need to be born between November 11th and October 20th. For Group 4, you must be born between January 21st and December 31st of any month.
