A Richfield woman perishes in an I-35 collision

Faribault, Minnesota — This weekend’s crash near Faribault killed a woman and injured a man.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred on Interstate 35 in Rice County near Faribault shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Authorities say the driver of a 2024 Subaru Outback was driving north when they went off the road and collided with a tree.

The crash killed the 75-year-old passenger, Diane Mabel Whiteley of Richfield. The 70-year-old driver from Richfield is expected to survive. There were no other vehicles involved.

According to the State Patrol, both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
