On Friday, North Carolina authorities announced the arrest of a third suspect in connection with the Monday kidnapping of a mother and her toddler daughter from their Garner home.
Earlier this week, Garner officials charged Paola Duran Duran, 25, and Miguel Angel Duran Duran, 23, with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of second-degree kidnapping.
A manhunt was launched for a third suspect, Eleodoro “Leo” Estrada-Hernandez, before authorities apprehended and arrested him on Friday.
“The FBI arrested Eleodoro ‘Leo’ Estrada-Hernandez in connection with the kidnapping of a young mother and her baby,” the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NC SBI) announced on Friday. “Hernandez was taken into custody by FBI Special Agents in Knightdale.”
He was charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of second-degree kidnapping, one count of felony firearm possession, and two counts of assault by pointing a firearm.
The kidnapping took place after the suspects allegedly demanded $1 million from the adult female victim’s husband. When he refused, they allegedly restrained him with duct tape before kidnapping his wife and 11-month-old daughter and driving them away in a black Nissan, according to WNCN.
The two victims were found safe on Tuesday after a Wake Forest resident reported that a woman with a baby approached her home for assistance, according to WNCN.
“In less than 24 hours, through incredible collaborative investigative efforts, the Garner Police Department charged and arrested two people in connection with the kidnapping. “The subjects listed below are being held at the Wake County Detention Center,” the Garner Police Department stated in a news release.
WNCN reports that ICE detainers have been issued for Paola and Miguel. Estrada-Hernandez’s immigration status remains unknown.
ICE did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for additional information about the suspects.
Several state, local, and federal agencies were involved in the search for all three suspects.
