A Georgia woman found herself in hot water after intentionally burning her boyfriend with grease, according to police.
Olympia Denise Laster, 43, is accused of one count of aggravated battery with family violence, according to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department.
The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Stay Lodge motel on Whitesville Street in the medium-sized town about 65 miles southwest of Atlanta.
According to law enforcement, officers were called to the extended stay motel to investigate a domestic dispute.
Inside, investigators discovered that during a dispute, the victim’s “live-in girlfriend” poured a “pot of hot chicken grease” on his upper body while he sat in a chair near the kitchen.
The victim is a 46-year-old man. According to police, he suffered “severe burns” on his head, neck, back, and shoulders. He is currently recovering at a “Atlanta area hospital capable of burn treatment,” according to the press release.
The specific motivation for the alleged grease attack has not been revealed by law enforcement. Furthermore, it is unclear whether the dispute in question was physical or simply an argument.
Details about the incident and what led to the dispute are also limited. Law&Crime contacted the LaGrange Police Department for more information, and they provided the press release while a records request was processed.
According to police, the investigation is still ongoing and has been turned over to the criminal investigation division.
The defendant is currently detained in the Troup County Jail without bond.
As of this writing, her case had not yet been docketed on the court system’s public-facing website.
A search of prior court records reveals a person in Troup County with the same name who was previously charged with one count of criminal trespass with family violence. Laster pleaded no contest to the charge in April 2024. Laster was also arrested on a DUI charge late last year, and she pleaded guilty in April.
